Spring Candle Guide

After a very long winter in quarantine, spring cannot get here soon enough. We all need to change the mood and welcome the upcoming season. Do you need a little inspiration? Candles can help create a mood with their scent and the style of the candle. Some things to think about before making your candle purchase are scent, size, color, cost and purpose. Depending on how you intend to use the candle, you might go very large possibly 20oz for an immense impact especially if it will be the focus on a tablescape. Or you might use smaller candles in groups for a totally different look. Think about the arrangement you want to accomplish, the height of the candle needed. Do you want votives, pillar, taper, rectangle? You might decide to mix different types of candles to achieve a unique look.

Also look at all the containers your candles are displayed in. Some are glass and others ceramic. Some glass vases are beautiful colors and seem almost translucent. Other vessels are solid in color perhaps glossy or mat. Closer to the holidays you see more mercury glass (silver and gold) and the typical red and green glass.  Next ask yourself if size matters?  Well, yes it does with candles and you need to consider how you will use the candle, in a group or on a mantle, as a centerpiece, or to light up an area. The sizes range from tealight to the larger type centerpiece pillar size candles. Consider how long you will want the candle to burn. You might need a 10oz candle to burn for several hours. Tealights in groups can be beautiful on a table or floating in a large bowl of water. The final thing we all need to think about with costs of everything on the rise, the budget. Think about how much you want to spend on your candle, perhaps you splurge because it is a special occasion. Look for sales on candles too. I keep a few in my cabinet so I have a backup if needed. I also love giving my favorite candle away as a gift.

Now that you know how you want to use your candle and how much you want to spend, Spring is the perfect time to explore a new fragrance. Start by lighting a fresh new candle to get your home ready for warmer months and a positive change. We have a scent for you. The great thing is you don't have to settle for just one. I have a few standby favorites and depending on my mood I light different ones daily.
